Riot Akt out here we show no fear: Youths riot with Police in France

The confrontation began Sunday night when two youths on a motorbike were killed in a collision with a police car in Villiers-le-Bel, a mixed suburb with Arab, black and white residents 12 miles north of Paris. Within an hour of the accident, youths began throwing stones at the police and firemen, and set four buildings ablaze — including a police station and a McDonald's restaurant

Saigon Wilds Out on Shade 45 (Funny Shit!!)

Saigon came onto Shade 45's "Lip Service" show recently and things got a little crazy to say the least.
Cipha Sounds and Angela Yee recap this quality moment where among other things Sai said he'd punch Nelly in the face, talks about threesomes and of course he has something to say about Prodigy

Saigon had this to say about the incident

MY DRUNK SHADE 45 INTERVIEW… I was soooo drunk when I did this interview I didnt even remember doing it, this interview was done at 8 PM and I was 4 A.M drunk.. I have a very LOW tolerance for white liquor. Well there is a part where I said I would slap Nelly because he doesn’t make positive songs…I actually like Nelly as a person and as an artist …I would never attempt to cause harm to a person who didnt try to harm me first in some sort of way, especially a person I respect and I respect Nelly…That was solely the Tanqueray speaking…I definitely would like to apologize to that man, Keep up the good work bruh, even though I would like to hear him and alot of these other MEGA superstars use their influence more to help our black kids, I wish him the best…Moving right along..In this same interview I supposedly told Melissa Ford I would punch her in the face, hahaha, after review I found it was NOT Melissa Ford, Melissa was there but it was a writer who had already interviewed me about the Mobb Deep incident and agreed with me about the stance I took, but gets the chance to interview me on the radio and changes her whole story to try to play me to make people laugh…I would NEVER hit a girl, especially Melissa Ford, there is only one way I would hit Melissa Ford…But Im really not the one to be the butt of ones jokes.

Is it wrong to blame hip hop? By Chris Summers

Lost friends from way back, and on top of all that
They tryin to blame this rap shit for all of our ills - Phonte

Another article linking gun crime with rap music (yaaaaaaaaawwwwnnnnn!!!) It's actually quite amusing how misinformed this journalist is about the culture stating that

"Competition and rivalry between different MCs and their crews is common, but violence - like that which killed Tupac and Notorious BIG in the 1990s during a feud in the US between West Coast and East Coast rappers - is still quite rare".

yes it is isn't it being that it never happens. And im sorry i might have missed something here but aren't Tupac and Biggie's murders insolved?

Anyway he goes on to talk about gun crime in London, channel U and the Don't Trigger government supported anti-gun campaign album

Police Beat Down R&B Artist Trey Songz

Trey Songz says he is contemplating legal action against the Springfield, Massachusetts, police department after he and two members of his entourage were arrested early Sunday morning following a performance at Springfield's Hippodrome.

In an incident involving several police officers that followed a person firing a gun into the crowd outside the Hippodrome, Songz (real name: Tremaine Neverson) was arrested for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to Springfield police. Kenny Bugg, who was with Songz, was arrested on the same charges while another man in their party, Jasper Murray, has disorderly conduct charges pending. Both offenses are misdemeanors. Anthony Williams, the man who allegedly fired the gun, is charged with a number of crimes including assault with intent to murder, assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

"The show went real well. No incidents [inside]," Songz recalled on Tuesday morning (November 6), describing the night. "As soon as we finished [performing], they turned the lights on and everyone started to leave."

Ironically, the end of the show marked the beginning of Songz and company's problems. They exited through the performers' entrance, but that entrance leads into the same parking lot used by the general public.

"My homie goes to get one of the police officers to escort us out of there and [someone in the parking lot] started bussin' [firing a gun]," Songz recalled. "So we started ducking in the car. So my homie runs back to the car and gets in like, 'They bussin'!' By the time we look up, we see the police [had] apprehended somebody, so we said, 'We ain't finnin' to wait.' We got out the car and proceeded to walk, 'cause the hotel is only a block away. The police stopped us and were like, 'Hold up, hold up.' "

Songz said that the police were not letting anyone out of the parking lot without being searched. Songz said he and his entourage were trying to comply with the officers' request to search them, but things went badly.

"They go to my road manager Bobby and they wanna check him," the singer said. "Bobby tells them he had like $6,000 in show money — because if they started feeling on that, they might think something. So he tells the cops he's got the money in his pocket and the cops break bad with him. They grabbed the road manger by the neck, and I'm standing right beside him. So my bodyguard steps out and pushes me out the way because that's [his] second nature. They think because he steps up, he wants to stop something."

Songz said that one officer tried to take down his tall, 300-pound bodyguard but did not succeed, so more officers got involved and took him down.

"It was seven on him, beating his a--," Songz said bitterly. "He caught it in the back of the head with a nightstick. His face was swollen. His arm was out of place."

Songz said he too got roughed up after yelling at one of the officers. He said he was angry because he saw a group of white officers laughing about what had just happened, and verbalized his disdain.

"The officers were joking about hitting [us]," Trey fumed. "I was like, 'Man, y'all stomped my n---a's face in.' That's when they tackled me. It was like four officers on me. One officer had his knee in my throat. They was kicking me in the ribs. Talking to people in that community, they say that thing happens all the time.

"I'm blessed to be up out of that situation," Trey continued. "Somebody could have gotten shot. I look at the best of the situation but something's gotta stop with the nooses, Jena Six. So much is going on in so little time."

Upon hearing Songz's comments, Jennifer Flagg, chief of staff of the Springfield Police Department, told MTV News that Songz and his friends were arrested because officers found them to be "verbally and physically combative after attempting to cross the police line."

As for Songz's allegations of racism on the part of the police, Flagg said, "I would ask him why the other hundreds of African-Americans [who attended the show] were not harassed either." Flagg also said officers of different races were assigned to the scene, including black and Hispanic officers. Songz said one black officer had talked to him briefly; the singer also admitted that during the chaos, he was not able to procure the officers' badge numbers or names.

Songz says he has no connection to the shooter and police have said they have no reason to believe that one exists, although an investigation is still pending. No motive for the shooting has been given.

Songz's tour continues and will head to Europe soon. He said he has hired an off-duty police officer to travel with him from now on.

"I have to have the police to protect me from the police," he said. "I know a lot of people want to give me the bad-boy stigma after this, but I ain't out there looking for no trouble."

Songz said he has talked with his lawyers about legal action, but his first priority is to get the charges against him and his crew dropped.

American Gangster Grosses $46.3 million at Box Office, Lucas talks sequel

Despite opening in nearly 1,000 fewer theaters than "Bee Movie," "American Gangster" flew past its insect competition to claim #1 with $46.3 million

Here's The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "American Gangster" ($46.3 million)
#2 "Bee Movie" ($39.1 million)
#3 "Saw IV" ($11 million)
#4 "Dan in Real Life" ($8.1 million)
#5 "30 Days of Night"($4 million)

In recent news Frank Lucas revealed to MTV that producers are apparently taking a wait-and-see approach to “American Gangster 2.”

We might make another movie, I guess,” said Lucas. “We’re just waiting to see what’s going on. I really don’t know what [the studio is] talking about. If I see the script and read it, maybe.”

Lucas also revealed to MTV that he was friends with P Diddy's father and Pee Wee Kirkland.

He also spoke on Nicky Barnes and Richie Roberts

MTV: There have been several magazine articles written on your life — as well as a documentary on your onetime rival, Nicky Barnes, called "Mr. Untouchable" — that seem to contradict each other and the plot of the movie.

Lucas: Ask me, and I'll tell you the truth.

MTV: In "Mr. Untouchable," Barnes seemed frustrated because he claimed he was the smoother of you two; he dressed in a more business-appropriate fashion, and you were more flamboyant. He disdainfully called you a country boy.

Lucas: Nah. You saw what it was [in "American Gangster"]. That's spoken. That was the way it was. Nicky was a flamboyant guy, who was kind of live. Me and him were friends; I guess we're still friends. He would jump out of cars and beat up junkies and all kinds of foolishness. I didn't like that. I tried to stay out of the limelight. Listen, if you go out there in the streets — a 5-year-old kid would know — if you're flamboyant, you're not gonna last but a minute. If you don't do flamboyant and stay out the limelight, you might last an hour or a day. I'm just using an example, you know?

MTV: How about your relationship with Richie Roberts, the detective who was instrumental in bringing you down? Are you two really still friendly with each other now? He joked with MTV News at the red-carpet premiere that when the two of you were on set, he saw a gleam in your eye and made a comment that he may have to take you in again.

Lucas: I'm not gonna make no joke. Richie Roberts couldn't arrest his mother. He couldn't catch a cold, you know what I'm saying? I'm not gonna get into that because there's a lot I could say. But I'll tell you, Richie Roberts is all right. He's my friend. But when you turn the cameras on, he gets all hyped. Real stupid. We still have good relations, we still do — except when he goes on TV. When the lights turn on, he doesn't even know what he's saying half the time.

Jay-Z on David Letterman Show 2nd Nov 07

Jay Hova appears on the Late Show with David Letterman. He talks briefly about his new concept album "American Gangster" which unless you have been living under a rock for the last couple of months you'll know dropped on Nov 6th and does a performance of "ROC boys".

Statik Selektah - Spell My Name Right

Just finished listening to this album and I must say it was the best way I could've started my day off. Im urging all REAL hip hop heads to go and cop this you'll be nodding your head from the Dj Premier intro to all the way through to the last cut. Phonte from Little Brother said it best dope beats, dope rhymes what more do y'all want and that statement definitely applies to this album.
It's hard to say what the standout tracks are on this cd because truthfully they are all enjoyable but definite highlights include "Stop look and listen" which sees Styles, Termanology & Q-Tip all deliver solid performances, "Express Yourself 08" with Kweli, Consequence & Termanology (again) and "No holding back" featuring AZ & Cormega to name a few.

This album is for all those who enjoy emcees with real skills over banging production and some dope cuts on the hooks (you remember how they used to do back in the day don't you?)

If you enjoyed Tony Touch's "Piecemaker" seires, Funkmaster Flex & Big Kap's "The Tunnel" or Dj Clue's "Professional" series then you will love "Spell my name right" the only mishap possible being "G Shit" where not even Jadakiss could save the song from Uncle Murda's uninspired opening verse.

4 and a half out of 5
